On July 28, a representative from Kim Jung Min’s agency, Silvertone Entertainment, told Maeil Kyungjae Star Today, “Kim Jung Min’s mother passed away yesterday (the 27th), and he is currently staying at the wake.” She was 93 years old.
The wake is being held at Suwon Yeonhwajang Funeral Hall in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, and the funeral will take place on the 29th.
Previously, in April last year, Kim Jung Min appeared on Channel A’s 'Best Friends Documentary: Four-Person Dining Table' where he revealed that he was living as a “goose father” — a Korean term for a father who remains in Korea while his wife and children live abroad — as his two sons were studying soccer in Japan.
At the time, he explained that he couldn’t accompany his wife and children to Japan because of his mother, saying, “My 90-year-old mother lives nearby, so I couldn’t leave with them,” showing his sense of duty as a son.
Kim Jung Min debuted in 1992. He married his Japanese wife, Tani Rumiko, in October 2006, and they have three sons together.
