Widely-acclaimed Korean web novel series 'Solo Leveling' by Chu Gong has secured its live action adaptation through Netflix. Hallyu star Byeon Woo Seok will play the role of Sung Jin Woo, the story's main hero.
'Solo Leveling', which began as a web novel serialized through Kakao Page, has since expanded its IP as both a webtoon and an animation series, acquiring massive acclaim across all platforms worldwide. The story takes place in a world where a mysterious gate opens up a doorway into an alternate dimension. Vicious monsters residing in the alternate dimension threaten the future of mankind, leaving the fate of the world in the hands of those known as hunters, who hunt and kill monsters. Sung Jin Woo appears in this storyline as an E-rated hunter, a hunter of the lowest rank. After an encounter with death, Sung Jin Woo unlocks a secret technique to level up his skill and rank.
As the real-life Sung Jin Woo, Byeon Woo Seok is expected to team up with a world-class VFX team to bring the fantastical story of 'Solo Leveling' to life in a dynamic, action-packed new series.
The live-action adaptation of 'Solo Leveling' will be directed by Lee Hae Joon and Kim Byung Seo and co-produced by Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures.
