BB GIRLS (formerly Brave Girls) member Minyoung recalled the group's reunion process and also clarified the rumored discord between the group and former member Yujeong.
Recently, BB GIRLS appeared as special guests on the YouTube show 'MonKiz's Footprint' and opened up about their careers - from being relatively unknown to suddenly going viral and the group's rebranding process.
Minyoung, Yuna, and Eunji debuted in 2016 as the second generation members of Brave Girls. Minyoung shared, "After that, there were continuous member changes, and now only the three of us remain."
Looking back on the time before "Rollin'" went viral, Minyoung shared, "When we debuted, our dorm was nice. We even shared the same building with Brave Brothers, our CEO, but over time, it got smaller and we almost had no dorm at one point. Then suddenly, we were doing well enough that we could all live on our own."
After regaining popularity with "Rollin'" going viral, Brave Girls changed their group name to BB GIRLS in 2023. Yujeong, who was also active with the group during its popularity, announced her departure from the group in April 2024. Host Lee Jin Sung asked, "When both the name and members changed, was it difficult?" Minyoung replied, "After our last viral comeback, there was still one more member with us. When she left, that was the hardest moment," referring to Yujeong's departure. Minyoung then continued, "I believe she also thought deeply and thought about her own future direction."
Lee Jin Sung then asked, "Each of you could have said, 'Let's end it here and go our separate ways.' After all, people have other things they want to pursue. For those who stayed, deciding to keep going together couldn't have been an easy decision either."
Eunji responded, "We thought about it a lot before leaving our original company. But once we became a three-member team, those worries almost all disappeared." Minyoung agreed, saying, "We really thought it through and made a conscious decision to start again."
Minyoung also addressed the rumors of discord that arose after Yujeong's departure. She explained, "There was no conflict at all. We had just come back from a trip to Bohol, and it happened to be around the time Yujeong decided to leave. We had already talked about it among ourselves, but we couldn't make it public yet. Some people misunderstood, thinking our trip marked the fallout."
Regarding Yujeong's departure, Minyoung admitted, "Of course, I felt some sadness. But there was no discord. It all happened very suddenly when Yujeong told us her decision. I thought 'Why? There's nothing wrong between us.' But everyone has their own thoughts. I believe Yujeong had her own reasons, and we decided to respect that. We parted ways while supporting her decision."
