TVING's upcoming original drama 'Even First-Place Lottery Winners Go to Work' (written and directed by Yoon Young Bin) tells a uniquely relatable story of ordinary office life through an extraordinary lens.
The series follows Gong Eun Tae, played by Lee Jun Hyuk, a diligent and modest office worker who wins the top lottery prize but continues to head into work the next day with a slightly changed outlook on life.
Although the 13 billion KRW (about $9.4 million) prize is not quite enough to drastically transform his entire life, Eun Tae finds himself gradually changing, not because of the money itself, but because of what it sparks inside him. The story delivers warm humor and emotional resonance, highlighting the growth of a seemingly average man as he begins to redefine his values and purpose.
Based on a popular web novel of the same name, the drama is directed by Yoon Young Bin, known for his strong storytelling in the film 'Tomb of the River.'
The casting of three seasoned actors, Lee Jun Hyuk, Seo Hyeon Woo, and Oh Dae Hwan, has raised anticipation among drama fans. Lee Jun Hyuk plays Gong Eun Tae, the team leader of Sales Team 5 at Hongsung International. Eun Tae has always lived a careful and unremarkable life, working hard to maintain stability.
After winning the lottery, he begins to see his routine differently, and the drama explores his subtle yet meaningful transformation. Lee said, “When I first read the script, I talked about it with a friend who works in an office. This is a story about how coworkers align with one another emotionally. I thought it could be a comforting story for office workers. I’m also looking forward to working with Seo Hyeon Woo and Oh Dae Hwan. Please look forward to the series.”
Seo Hyeon Woo takes on the role of Yang Jun Ho, Eun Tae’s junior and the troublemaker of the team. Once a rising star in his twenties, Jun Ho is now facing a period of denial as he watches his reality become increasingly unimpressive. When Eun Tae, who joined the company a year after him, is promoted first, he becomes frustrated and rebellious.
However, Jun Ho begins to mature as he learns how to face reality and support his team. Seo shared, “I was intrigued by the idea of an ordinary office worker suddenly winning the lottery. The realistic and delicate development of the story really drew me in. I hope to share that same feeling with the viewers. Oh Dae Hwan plays Jung Sun Hyuk, the team leader of Sales Team 4 at Hongsung International. Although he has always lived with integrity, he repeatedly fails to get promoted and struggles with the tough reality of corporate life. Eventually, he comes to realize that relationships matter more than ability, and he decides to protect himself by becoming more pragmatic.
