Actor So Ji Sub is making headlines for his incredible generosity on the set of Netflix’s new series 'Mercy for None.'
It was recently revealed that he gave each cast and crew member a gold gift weighing 3.75 grams to celebrate the end of filming.
This heartwarming story came to light during a June 6 episode of the YouTube channel Channel Fullmoon, where So Ji Sub appeared alongside co-stars Ahn Gil Kang, Gong Myung, and Cho Han Cheul. The actors joined producer Na Yeong Seok for a candid and entertaining conversation about their work on the upcoming drama.
While discussing their experience, So Ji Sub talked about his intense physical transformation for the role, revealing that he lost nearly 20 kilograms after reading the script. As the cast enjoyed a casual lunch together, a light-hearted joke about treating co-star Gong Myung to pork cutlet led to an unexpected moment of praise.
Actor Ahn Gil Kang surprised everyone by sharing that So Ji Sub had given each actor a gold ring weighing one don (about 3.75 grams) after the shoot wrapped. Producer Na Yeong Seok, clearly impressed, noted how high gold prices are today and jokingly asked why So hadn’t done the same during their previous project together.
So Ji Sub explained that this has been a personal tradition of his for years. He clarified that the gifts were paid out of his own pocket and added, “This time, I gave gold not just as a keepsake but because if times get tough, they can sell it. It was my way of showing appreciation.”
Known for both his professionalism and humility, So Ji Sub once again showed why he is respected not only as an actor but also as a person.
He is set to return to the screen in' Mercy for None,' premiering June 6 on Netflix.
