South Korean music label Newtype ENT has signed a formal partnership agreement with Sony Music Publishing Korea, the local branch of global music publishing powerhouse Sony Music Publishing (Hong Kong) Limited, to support the global expansion of Korean songwriters and producers.
This marks the first time Sony Music Publishing Korea has entered into a comprehensive partnership with a domestic publisher, signaling a major step toward creating international opportunities for K-pop creators.
According to Newtype ENT, the agreement includes practical initiatives such as co-hosted global producer auditions, international collaboration opportunities for its in-house composers and producers, and regular joint songwriting sessions supported by Sony Music Publishing. With this deal, Korean creators will have better access to global artists and projects, laying the foundation for higher-level creative collaborations beyond the domestic market.
The partnership also includes strategic marketing support via Sony Music Publishing’s global network and official social media channels, and the shared use of Sony’s studios as a collaborative creative platform. These measures aim to enhance global visibility and expand the international creative infrastructure for K-pop.
Newtype ENT stated, “This partnership will strengthen our global competitiveness, expand IP distribution, and elevate our brand value. Both companies will actively share their respective expertise and resources to grow together in the K-pop creative ecosystem through strategic collaboration.”
A representative from Sony Music Publishing Korea added, “With the globalization of K-pop and the growing demand for diverse creative output, expanding the creative domain has become essential. Newtype is a publisher that carefully manages the well-being, working environment, and long-term vision of each of its writers, truly embodying SMPK’s core value of ‘Creator First.’ This partnership is expected to go beyond one-sided support and become a genuine, mutual growth-focused collaboration.”

Founded in 2014, Newtype ENT is one of Korea’s leading music publishing companies. Its head producer 1take, along with a team of over 20 domestic and international producers, has contributed to works by top K-pop artists such as NCT 127, NCT U, NCT DREAM, RIIZE, Stray Kids, NMIXX, MONSTA X, CRAVITY, Kim Jae Joong, SAY MY NAME, INFINITE, Lovelyz, Kwon Eun Bi, THE BOYZ, and Wanna One.
Their producers have also worked on soundtracks and rearrangements for various Korean music programs and idol survival shows, including ‘Immortal Songs’ and ‘Road to Kingdom’. Notably, Chace, who co-composed NMIXX’s ‘Sonar (별별별)’, has also released solo tracks such as ‘Voyage to Mars’ and ‘Contact’, and is now active as a singer-songwriter.
