Lee Hyori has expressed her desire to collaborate with G-Dragon, sparking anticipation among fans for a possible musical project between the two.
On June 28, a new episode of the YouTube show DdeunDdeun, titled 'Sharing a Meal is Just an Excuse,' featured Lee Hyori and comedian Yang Se Chan as guests.
During the episode, Lee Hyori spoke about her recent efforts to connect with fellow artists. "I’ve been meeting people I want to meet," she said. "I reach out through DMs because I don’t have their phone numbers."
She revealed that one of those artists was G-Dragon. "I messaged G-Dragon and suggested we meet, but it hasn’t happened yet. I’m planning to try again," she said. "He read my message and even replied. He said he was interested in doing something together for this album. We’ve never worked on a project before."
Lee Hyori also shared that she recently watched G-Dragon's appearance on the variety show 'You Quiz on the Block.' "I saw him on 'You Quiz' and felt that we have a lot in common, even though we are different in many ways. I could relate to the experience of living as a top star."
She went on to reflect on G-Dragon's comments about inner struggles. "He said he has done everything. He has earned money and received so much popularity, but still feels an emptiness inside. I feel the same way. I have a wonderful husband, but that sense of emptiness does not seem to have a clear reason."
She added, "I want to receive musical advice and do my best with this album."
Host Yoo Jae Suk expressed his admiration. "You did all that without knowing him personally? That is really impressive. It’s not an easy thing to do." Yang Se Chan agreed, saying, "It would be great if you reached out with questions or ideas about music. That sounds meaningful."
With both artists known for their unique styles and major influence in the Korean music scene, fans are now eagerly waiting to see if this long-hoped-for collaboration will finally come true.
