Actor Kwon Sang Woo has revealed his newly constructed building in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, which has been transformed into a space for pop-up events.
On June 14, a video titled "Seoul Man Kwon Sang Woo, New Jersey Woman Son Tae Young" was uploaded to Son Tae Young’s YouTube channel 'Mrs. New Jersey Son Tae Young.' The video features the couple visiting the building together.

In the video, Kwon gives viewers a tour of his property located in Seongdong-gu’s trendy Seongsu-dong. He explains that construction is not yet fully complete as he walks into the building. The structure, originally a self-service car wash, has been renovated into a multipurpose venue suitable for various pop-up events. Kwon said he believed this concept would work better given the atmosphere of Seongsu-dong and added that he even paid special attention to designing the restrooms.
The crew expressed surprise at the building’s prime location, pointing out that Seoul Forest is just behind it. Kwon responded that the location is indeed one of the highlights, being only a minute's walk from both Ttukseom and Seoul Forest stations. He added with a smile that if the building does well, he hopes to spend more time in the United States with his family.
When asked why he personally checks in on the site so frequently, Kwon explained that all businesses require hands-on attention. He said that investing a large amount of money, such as one billion KRW (about $730,594) in a bakery, does not guarantee success without active involvement. That is why he often visits the building to monitor progress. He added that if this project succeeds, it will allow him to spend more time with his family. He noted that he can no longer work on three projects a year like he did in his younger days. Instead, he wants to focus on one meaningful role at a time, which requires financial freedom as an actor.
Kwon also expressed pride in contributing to the revitalization of the neighborhood. He said that he was one of the people who helped bring life to the alley, which used to be empty and dark at night. By keeping the lights on at the car wash until 11 p.m., the area became brighter and safer. He said that women can now walk around at night without fear and believes his presence helped make that possible.
Kwon purchased the 946-square-meter lot in April 2015 for 8 billion KRW (roughly $5.8 million) and initially built a two-story building used as a self-service car wash. In October of last year, he demolished the structure and began constructing a new one. Upon completion, the value of the property is estimated to be around 43 billion KRW (approximately $31 million), drawing considerable public attention.
