The writer of 'Misaeng,' the director of 'Big Bet,' and the cast of 'Moving' are coming together for one of Disney+’s original series, 'Low Life.'
On June 26, Disney+ released 12 official stills from the drama, heightening anticipation for its upcoming story.
Based on the webtoon of the same name by Yoon Tae Ho, famous for 'Misaeng' and 'Inside Men,' 'Low Life' is directed by Kang Yoon Sung of 'Big Bet.' The cast includes top-tier talents such as Ryu Seung Ryong, known for his impactful role in 'Moving,' along with Yang Se Jong, Im Soo Jung, and more.

Set around a sunken treasure ship off the coast of Shinan in 1977, the drama unfolds a high-stakes survival story. It centers on a group of down-to-earth, hard-working locals who get caught up in deception and betrayal as they chase the promise of sudden wealth. The drama explores the desires and greed of diverse characters drawn to the sea in search of fortune.

The newly released stills showcase the tangled relationships surrounding the underwater treasure. Ryu Seung Ryong’s intense stare as Oh Gwan Seok contrasts with Yang Se Jong’s anxious expression as Oh Hee Dong, hinting at the tension to come between their characters.
The cast also includes Im Soo Jung as Yang Jeong Sook, Kim Eui Sung, Kim Sung Oh, Hong Ki Joon, Jang Gwang, Kim Jong Soo, Woo Hyun, Lee Dong Hwi, TVXQ’s Jung Yun Ho (U-Know), and Kim Min. Each portrays individuals with different motivations and methods for pursuing the treasure.

Im Soo Jung takes on a bold new role as Yang Jeong Sook, the savvy matriarch of Heungbaek Industries. Jeong Sook is a complex character, highly skilled with money, trusted by her husband, Chairman Cheon Hwang Shik (played by Jang Gwang), and driven by an intense inner ambition.

In particular, the production team put a great deal of effort into recreating the 1970s. “Because it’s set in the 70s and involves underwater treasure hunting, the cast and crew had to work extremely hard. I think those scenes will feel refreshing to viewers,” said Director Kang Yoon Sung.

Kang Yoon Sung also candidly spoke about the pressure of adapting a popular original webtoon. “There’s always pressure when turning a beloved original into a drama. I constantly worry about disappointing fans. We aimed to bring out the strengths of the source material while filling in the gaps that weren’t in the webtoon.”
