On May 29, Newsen revealed that actor Yoo Seung Ho has been quietly donating treatment expenses for sick children and volunteering alone at animal shelters for abandoned cats for several years, without even a manager accompanying him.
Recently, videos showing Yoo Seung Ho commuting to and from the theater where he is currently performing in the play 'Killing Caesar' have sparked a flood of warm comments sharing touching stories about him.
One netizen shared, “My daughter is sick and receiving treatment at a hospital. Yoo Seung Ho donated to support us during that time. My wife wrote a thank-you letter back then, but we have always kept our gratitude in our hearts. I hope everything he does goes well.” According to Newsen’s investigation, Yoo Seung Ho’s donations have been made so quietly that even his agency was unaware of them. Having started his career as a child actor, he is said to have a special affection for children.
Recently, Yoo Seung Ho served as an ambassador for McDonald’s 'Happy Walk campaign,' donating 10 million KRW (about $7,292) and contributing all participation fees to RMHC Korea. The donations will be used to build new houses in the metropolitan area, providing “second homes” for seriously ill children undergoing long-term treatment and their families, helping them focus on recovery.
Yoo Seung Ho is also known as an avid volunteer for abandoned cats. For years, he has been driving himself without a manager to visit shelters. His social media profile reads “Cat’s World Domination,” followed by two cat emojis representing the two rescued cats he personally adopted. In an interview on JTBC’s 'Newsroom' last August, Yoo Seung Ho shared, “It may sound strange, but I want to save as much money as possible through acting. I plan to run an animal shelter someday.”
His agency, 333 Entertainment, cautiously commented, “Yoo Seung Ho has consistently been involved in volunteer work and donations but tends to be shy about publicizing these acts. Often, even the company learns about such deeds through fans’ sightings.”
Meanwhile, Yoo Seung Ho continues to meet fans on stage in the play 'Killing Caesar,' running until July 20 at Sogang University’s Mary Hall Grand Theater. This play, a reimagining of Shakespeare’s 'Julius Caesar,' depicts the political irony of Caesar’s assassination committed under the pretext of protecting the republic and ultimately giving rise to another dictator. Yoo Seung Ho has received praise for his delicate yet explosive emotional performance in the role of Brutus.
