Sam Hammington opened up about his contemplation of moving back to Australia with his wife and kids.
On the May 26 episode of Channel A's 'Table for 4,' Sam Hammington revealed that he is considering moving to Australia with his family. He said he was influenced by his parents from a young age. He shared that his mother was a casting director in Australia and had the talent to discover global stars. He shared, "My parents divorced when I was young. My mom wasn’t very strict."
He continued, "I learned a lot of things, but I didn’t truly master anything. I think she gave me too much freedom—she didn’t nag me at all,” Sam confessed. “From a child’s perspective, just a little support can help them grow up wonderfully, so I want to provide that support."

Sam also opened up about his father. “When I parted ways with my father, it wasn’t on good terms,” he shared. “We reconnected around my mother’s 60th birthday, and our relationship improved. In 2004, I was in Korea when I got a phone call. I was told that my father had passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage.”
Sam grew emotional, his eyes brimming with tears. “At first, I couldn’t believe it. Since my dad was in New Zealand, it took a week just to get a plane ticket. I’m an only child, so I had to go to hold the funeral,” he said.

He recalled, “When my father was cremated, the coffin was open. People close to him placed mementos inside. I placed a $100 bill in the inside pocket of his suit. It was my way of saying, ‘Have one last drink on your way.’”
Sam shared that he wanted to leave a trace of his father in the world by passing on his name to his son.
He added, “I see my mother only about once a year, and her health gets noticeably worse each time I see her.” He explained that this is why he’s considering immigrating to Australia with his family. “My dad passed away like that, if the same happens to my mom, I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle it,” he said.
