A record-breaking apartment transaction has taken place in Seoul’s Seongdong District, in the same complex where actor Kim Soo Hyun is known to own three units. The apartment’s value has reportedly increased by nearly 5 billion KRW (approximately 3.6 million USD) over the past five years.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s real transaction price disclosure system, a 195㎡ apartment in Galleria Forêt, located in Seongsu-dong 1-ga, Seongdong District, was sold for 9 billion KRW (approx. 6.6 million USD) on May 3. This marks a new record-high price for the complex. The previous transaction for the same unit size occurred in November 2021 for 5.5 billion KRW, and five years ago, in March 2020, it was sold for 3.7 billion KRW, showing an increase of roughly 5 billion KRW over five years.
Kim Soo Hyun reportedly owns three units in the Galleria Forêt complex. He purchased a 217㎡ unit in October 2013 for 4.02 billion KRW and is believed to have been residing there since. In October 2014, he acquired a 170㎡ unit for 3.02 billion KRW. Most recently, in January 2023, he bought a 217㎡ penthouse for 8.8 billion KRW. The current estimated value of the three units combined is around 30 billion KRW (approx. USD 22 million).
Galleria Foret made headlines at the time of its launch in 2008 for its then-record price of 45.35 million KRW per 3.3㎡. It began occupancy in 2011 and is composed exclusively of large-scale units ranging from 167㎡ to 271㎡.
Built by Hanwha Engineering & Construction, the complex consists of two towers with 230 units in total, spanning from 7 basement levels to 45 above-ground floors. Located adjacent to Seoul Forest, it offers views of the Han River and reaches a height of up to 172 meters.
Due to its tight security and privacy, Galleria Foret is a popular residence among celebrities. It’s known that artists such as G-Dragon, Insooni, Han Ye Seul, and Go Joon Hee either live there or own units in the complex.
