The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards with Gucci, Korea’s only all-encompassing awards ceremony spanning television, film, and theater, will be held today (May 5) at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul. The event will be broadcast live from 8 PM KST on JTBC and multiple digital platforms including Prism, Naver TV, and Chzzzik.

Returning as MCs are Shin Dong Yup, Suzy, and Park Bo Gum, leading the prestigious event which marks its 61st anniversary this year. The ceremony continues to emphasize credibility and fairness, bringing together the most influential names in Korea’s entertainment industry over the past year.

This year’s Baeksang introduces changes to reflect a rapidly evolving media landscape — the former "TV division" has been renamed the "broadcast division," opening the stage to content across all platforms.

One of the most anticipated attendees is the cast and crew of ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’, which leads with eight nominations, the most of any work. Director Kim Won Seok, actors IU and Park Bo Gum, as well as nominees Choi Dae Hoon, Yeom Hye Ran, and Kim Tae Yeon will all be in attendance.

The mega-hit series ‘Lovely Runner’ is also set to shine at the awards, with the entire team — including writer Lee Si Eun and actors Byun Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon, and Song Geon Hee — confirming their attendance. Notably, Byun Woo Seok returns as a nominee for Best Actor in the broadcast division, two years after being nominated as Best New Actor in the film division.

Other notable works with full attendance include ‘Trauma Center’, ‘The Matchmakers’, ‘Good Partner’, and ‘The Intimate Traitor’, with a host of actors, directors, and producers walking the red carpet.

On the variety side, veteran entertainers Yoo Jae Suk and Shin Dong Yup are joined by newer stars like Dex, Kim Won Hoon, Lee Soo Ji, and Ji Ye Eun, reflecting Baeksang’s commitment to celebrating diversity across generations and genres.

In the film division, the attendance rate is nothing short of historic. All 30 actor nominees and numerous directors and producers will be present, showcasing the resilience of Korea’s cinema industry amid global challenges. Films such as ‘Harbin’, ‘Love in the Big City’, ‘Revolver’, and ‘War and Rumors’ are among the most highly anticipated contenders.

IU, Kim Go Eun, Jeon Do Yeon, Hyun Bin, Im Ji Yeon, and Park Jung Min are just a few of the big names who will grace the ceremony. Director Park Chan Wook, representing the Netflix original ‘War and Rumors’, makes a notable appearance as both screenwriter and producer.

The theater division will also be spotlighted, with three major plays — ‘The Jew of Malta’, ‘The Recorder's Sound’, and ‘Jincheon Recommends Jincheon’ — receiving nominations for both Best Play and Best Actor/Actress. Directors, producers, and actors from these productions are set to attend, highlighting the growing weight of the stage arts at Baeksang.

With Gucci returning as a partner for the third consecutive year, the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards is expected to be both a celebration of excellence and a reflection of Korea’s ever-expanding creative landscape — one that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
