After recently making headlines for revealing a home packed with plastic bags on 'Running Man,' Kim Jong Kook is once again garnering attention. This time for his extreme thriftiness on KBS 2TV’s 'Problem Child in House.'
In the upcoming episode airing on April 3, Kim Jong Kook will showcase his next-level frugality, proving himself as the ultimate "stingy king."
In the episode preview, Kim Jong Kook revealed, "To save money on anesthesia, I underwent a colonoscopy fully conscious." He even recommended non-sedated endoscopies, highlighting the advantage of being able to converse with the doctor during the procedure. Additionally, he confessed that he used to wear underwear with holes and even stitched up his worn-out socks to keep using them. He also shared some of his top sock-preserving tips.
His penny-pinching tendencies continued with an on-the-spot sock inspection of the show’s hosts—Song Eun Yi, Kim Sook, Hong Jin Kyung, Joo Woo Jae, and Yang Se Chan—proving just how seriously he takes frugality.
The highlight of the episode, however, was Kim Jong Kook’s infamous "wet wipe lecturing." He revealed that he is still using toilet paper and wet wipes he received as housewarming gifts seven years ago.
He questioned the need for wet wipes, saying, "We lived fine without them before, so why use them now?" prompting a round of self-reflection among the hosts. After Kim Jong Kook's nagging, Song Eun Yi admitted, "Now, every time I see a wet wipe, I think of Jong Kook. I even started drying and reusing them."
Even Hong Jin Kyung, visibly overwhelmed by Kim Jong Kook's relentless wet wipe-nagging, finally surrendered, saying, "I think I need to stop using wet wipes altogether."
