The fandom of the K-pop group NJZ (NewJeans) has submitted a petition to the court in support of the members' independent activities.
On March 13, the NJZ fandom filed a petition with the court, alleging that HYBE and Chairman Bang Si Hyuk have intentionally discriminated against the NewJeans members, forcing them to operate in a hostile environment. The petition was signed by approximately 30,000 domestic and international fans and was submitted to the 50th Civil Agreement Division of the Seoul Central District Court.
Fans argued, "HYBE and Chairman Bang Si Hyuk have been deliberately discriminating against the members, making it difficult for them to work under such hostile conditions." They further stated, "This unfair treatment has caused significant distress to the members and has negatively impacted fans as well. We can no longer enjoy NewJeans' music and activities with a joyful heart."
Previously, HYBE had filed an injunction to prohibit NewJeans members from engaging in individual activities and signing contracts, claiming that such actions violated their agreement.
The court is set to receive additional materials until March 14 before concluding the hearing.
Meanwhile, some fans are actively encouraging others to support the petition by spreading awareness.
