Actress Hyeri has disclosed that she purchased all the luxury clothing, bags, and accessories used in her latest drama to portray a 'top 1%' character.
On February 7, Hyeri uploaded a video titled "I Have to Watch This Drama Because of the Kiss Scene – Behind-the-Scenes of 'Friendly Rivalry'" on her YouTube channel. In the video, actress Kang Hye Won appeared as a guest, and the two discussed their experiences filming the drama.
Hyeri introduced the topic by saying, "The trailer for the drama 'Friendly Rivalry,' which I filmed last year, has been released." She then explained that she invited Kang Hye Won, who also appears in the drama, to share behind-the-scenes stories.
During their conversation, Kang Hye Won revealed an amusing anecdote: "Hyeri would occasionally ask me, ‘How do I look today?’ or ‘Do I look pretty?’ I usually give honest feedback, but she genuinely looked beautiful." Over time, Kang Hye Won began offering fashion recommendations before Hyeri even asked, suggesting which outfits suited her best.
Hyeri then shared an interesting detail about her character, saying, "The role I played, 'J,' was one of the top 1% at Chaehwa Girls’ High School." Since her character was elite in terms of background, academics, and appearance, Hyeri dedicated significant effort to ensuring her visual presentation matched this status.
"I bought all the luxury clothing and accessories used in the drama because there were no sponsorships," she admitted. "Every designer bag and outfit you see on screen is something I purchased myself."
This revelation surprised fans, as it is common for celebrities to receive high-end fashion sponsorships for dramas. Despite the lack of brand partnerships, Hyeri's commitment to authenticity in portraying her character has drawn admiration from viewers.
