Singer Younha has been identified as the buyer of FT Island member Choi Minhwan’s residence, purchased for 3.8 billion KRW (approximately 2,723,009 USD) in August.
According to a report by the Herald Economy on November 29, official real estate documents confirm that Younha acquired the standalone property in Seoul’s prestigious Yulhyeon-dong neighborhood. Ownership was officially transferred on November 18.
The property is subject to a mortgage of 1.725 billion KRW (about 1.24 million USD). Given that mortgages are typically set at 120% of the loan amount, Younha is estimated to have borrowed around 1.4 billion KRW (approximately 1.01 million USD) to complete the purchase.
The residence boasts a total floor area of 408.74㎡ and a land area of 312㎡ with the transaction price averaging 40 million KRW (about 28,651 USD) per 3.3㎡.
Choi Minhwan originally purchased the property for 1.25 billion KRW (about 895,000 USD) in 2015. He later demolished the existing structure and constructed a multi-family home with a basement and two above-ground floors, which he shared with his family.
Choi, who married former Laboum member Yulhee and had three children, faced a high-profile divorce last year. The separation was accompanied by controversies, including allegations against Choi and public statements from his ex-wife, though police investigations resulted in no charges.
The property sale has drawn attention due to the significant profit Choi realized, while Younha’s purchase of the 3.8 billion KRW (2.72 million USD) residence has added another layer of interest, sparking discussions about the singer’s real estate investment.
