SUGA (real name Min Yoongi, 31) of BTS has been fined 15 million won (approximately 11,194 US dollars) for driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.
According to the legal community on September 30th, Judge Lee Yoo Seop of the Seoul Western District Court issued a summary order on September 27th, sentencing SUGA to a 15 million won fine for violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving. The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office had summarily indicted Suga on September 10th with a 15 million won fine.
A summary order is a procedure in which fines and penalties are imposed without a formal trial. The accused can request a formal trial within a week of receiving the order if they wish to contest the decision.
SUGA was accused of riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, at around 11:15 p.m. in August.
At the time of his arrest, his blood alcohol concentration was confirmed to be 0.227%, which is above the license revocation level (0.08% or higher).
