BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and actor Park Jung Min to play lovers in zombie series ‘Newtopia’

Coupang Play has confirmed the casting for their 2025 series ‘Newtopia’. Helmed by Director Yoon Sung Hyun, this project will star BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Park Jung Min.

The series tells the story of lovers Jae Yoon and Young Ju looking for each other across downtown Seoul, which is attacked by zombies.

Park Jung Min plays the role of Lee Jae Yoon, an older soldier who feels anxious about the future, while Jisoo plays the role of Kang Young Ju, Jae Yoon's girlfriend awaiting his military discharge and former belle of her engineering college, who is recently employed.

Known for the film ‘Bleak Night’, this will be Director Yoon’s first ever drama series. The series will be written by Han Jin Won, who won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for ‘Parasite’ at the 92^nd Academy Awards, and Ji Ho Jin, who wrote the stylish new-wave action series ‘A Shop for Killers’.

‘Newtopia’ is slated for release in 2025.
