K-netizens are baffled about Himchan avoiding prison sentence after his third sexual offense trial

AKP STAFF

Korean netizens have been left in disbelief after it was reported that Himchan had escaped prison sentence once again after his third sexual offense trial.

Former B.A.P member Himchan has been handed a suspended sentence in his third sexual offense case. On February 1, KST, the Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court, presided over by Judge Kwon Sung Soo, delivered a verdict sentencing Kim Himchan to three years in prison, deferred by a probationary period of five years. The charges include rape and violations of the Act on Punishment of Sexual Crimes, on filming or engaging in obscene acts using cameras or communication media.

Additionally, the court mandated that Himchan undergo 40 hours of sexual violence treatment classes. Furthermore, he will face a three-year restriction on employment in institutions associated with children, youth, and disabled individuals.

Following the reports, Korean netizens were baffled and angry at the news of Himchan's suspended sentencing. They left comments such as, "Let's replace the judges with AI too. Does it make sense to give probation to this guy?" "Everyone, the judge is ruining South Korea," "This country is the place where you get off easy if you commit a crime but say you were drunk," "Why is he given a suspended sentence? Why? Did he bribe them with money?" "This is really serious. Judges!!!" "This is his third time. How in the world is he given a suspended sentence and not go to prison," "In our country, the prosecution is corrupt, and the judges are foolish," "This judge is basically making more criminals," and "I wonder how much he paid the judge."

And people who took drugs and only hurt themselves with it are charged with years of jail and no proper rehab possibilities…

No seriously this is truly upsetting. He’s clearly a danger to society because he has done this habitually. All the judge is doing is letting others know they can do the same thing with no real consequences
