Former actress 'A' and entertainment establishment manager 'B,' who extorted 350 million KRW from actor Lee Sun Gyun, have been handed over to the prosecution.

On January 5, the Incheon Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division announced charges against former actress 'A,' aged 28, for extortion and attempted extortion, as well as against entertainment establishment manager 'B,' aged 29, for extortion. The charges were forwarded to the prosecution.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, the police determined that while both individuals were involved in criminal activities, their offenses were committed independently rather than in collaboration.

Specifically, 'A' allegedly demanded 200 million KRW (approximately 152,120 USD) from Lee Sun Gyun in October of the previous year. She is accused of threatening him and ultimately extorting 50 million KRW (approximately 38,030 USD).

Despite lacking a personal connection with Lee Sun Gyun, 'A' made a threat, stating, "I will have 'B' arrested for drug use, and I need to receive money," and, "Recover the entire 300 million KRW given to 'B' and let's settle with the 200 million KRW for me."

Last month, on the 28th, 'A' attended a detention hearing with her infant and was subsequently arrested. She had previously worked as an actress, featuring in supporting roles in films released in 2012 and 2015.

Meanwhile, 'B' stands accused of extorting 300 million KRW (approximately 228,181 USD) from Lee Sun Gyun in September of the previous year. She allegedly claimed that an anonymous hacker was attempting to leak details about their relationship and stated, "An unknown hacker is attempting to expose our relationship. We need to stop it with money."

It has been revealed that 'B' allocated a portion of the extorted 300 million KRW from Lee Sun Gyun to her family members.

The identity of the so-called 'unknown hacker' referenced by 'B' remains unconfirmed. However, police suspect that 'A' might be connected to this aspect of the case.

'B' is already facing charges and is being prosecuted for drug-related offenses under the Narcotics Control Act.

Previously convicted for fraud, 'A' became acquainted with 'B,' who has a history of six drug offenses, during their time in prison. After their release, they resided as neighbors in the same apartment complex for almost seven years. Over time, their relationship deteriorated. In October of the previous year, in a dramatic confrontation at the Incheon Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, 'A' physically accosted 'B' by grabbing her hair and proceeded to report her for drug use.

The police surmise that 'A's report against 'B' was a retaliatory action, motivated by her failure to extort 300 million KRW from Lee Sun Gyun. It is believed that 'A' sought to have 'B' arrested as a form of leverage or revenge.

Lee Sun Gyun passed away on December 27 of last year at the age of 48.
