Trot star YoungTak says that #Jin became an inspiration to restart his music career

In 2021, the trot sensation YoungTak's "Jjin-iya" took social media by storm. Its catchy, repetitive chorus, "Jin, Jin, Jin, Jjin-iya," amusingly aligned with BTS' Jin's stage name. The playful coincidence wasn't lost on the BTS members, who joined in on the fun, further amplifying the meme. Meanwhile, the trot track enjoyed immense popularity in South Korea.

YoungTak, opened up in an interview about the unprecedented fame the song bestowed upon him. He revealed that Jin played a main role in reigniting his music career, crediting the artist as his inspiration. YoungTak mentioned that he became famous even overseas due to the viral hit "Jjin-iya." He got the chance to hold concerts in Philippines, Manila, Thailand, Indonesia, and other Asian countries. Remarkably, YoungTak consistently expresses his gratitude to Jin in nearly every interview. And Jin also added his song to the playlist of his favorite songs to listen to when taking a shower.

Here is a translation of the interview with YoungTak:

"Before his trot career, he faced many difficulties."

"There was a time in my career when I was hit by reality by the thought that the income of a singer is not much. I started teaching kids for two to three years. As I was doing that, people around me were complimenting me and saying that 'I think you are a great teacher' so I think I was able to continue doing that during those years," he said.

He revealed that "I can honestly say that during those times, I put down my will to write music and I was very sad about not performing. I am thankful for the different people I met, activities I joined, stages where I performed and broadcasts in which I appeared".

"I think this is a big miracle for me. The truth is that I am a singer who stopped and gave up because I had no income. But through those experiences, it became a big motivation for me to live a better life for my future," he said.

On Dec. 6, 2020, Young Tak performed "Jjin-iya" on the 2020 Melon Music Awards (MMA) Week program.

"I am very thankful to the members of BTS especially Jin because once I had an episode where I was able to perform at an award ceremony. And in that award ceremony, it overlapped with the birthday of BTS' Jin," said Young Tak. He added, "As you know, the song that I sing always says 'Jjin, Jjin, Jjin.' So BTS were thinking 'Who is this Jjin, Jjin, Jjhin man?' That is why my song went viral as well. And I think it became a gateway for my song to be known more."

"Another episode is when Jin himself was able to come on a TV show. He mentioned that whenever he took a shower, he would listen to my song 'Why Are You Coming Out From There' I am very thankful for his shoutout. I hope in the future when there is a chance to meet him, I will be able to treat him with delicious food," Young Tak said.

It's amazing that such a funny coincidence elevated the recognition of an amazing artist like YoungTak, enabling him to pursue his passion on a larger scale.
