Dispatch alleges The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il forged signatures of FIFTY FIFTY 'Cupid' songwriters to transfer copyright to himself

A recent Dispatch report is claiming that The Givers CEO Ahn Sung Il forged the signatures of the Swedish songwriters behind FIFTY FIFTY's hit single "Cupid" in order to illegally take their copyright. If confirmed, the transfer of copyright could be suspended.

According to a representative from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), the copyright issue surrounding FIFTY FIFTY's "Cupid" is currently being disputed between the involved parties, and if legal or administrative issues are found in the copyright acquiring process, the submitted share transfer request can be put on hold. They also added that if the investigation into the issue shows one party's negligence or forgery, it is likely the request will be canceled completely.

According to the Dispatch report, Ahn Sung Il allegedly forged the signatures of three of the song's Swedish songwriters – Adam von Mentzer, Mac Fellander-Tsai, and Louise Udin – in order to transfer their share of the song's copyright to both himself and The Givers company. The above image shows the original signatures of said songwriters followed by the signatures found on the aforementioned share transfer document.

Issued in February, the copyright share transfer request form, seen above, shows the original share division and then the revised version. As indicated, the Swedish songwriting team lost their shares entirely, while shares were also reduced from FIFTY FIFTY member Keena's songwriting credits. Overall, he had shifted 74.5% of the copyright shares from the others to himself. If proved to be forged, Ahn Sung Il will have committed a serious criminal offense.

The audio above, originally released earlier this month, reveals a conversation between Ahn Sung Il and ATTRAKT CEO Jeon Hong Joon. Starting around the 0:41 mark, Jeon Hong Joon is heard saying, "Two months have passed, but [the foreign songwriters'] names still haven't appeared [on the copyright]?" After it is clarified that the project he is referring to is "Cupid," Ahn Sung Il responds, "That takes three months." In response, Jeon Hong Joon apologizes, not realizing that this is a lie and that the songwriters were no longer copyright shareholders. Ahn Sung Il then tells Jeon Hong Joon that the reason his name is appearing before the foreign team members' are is because he is a domestic songwriter.

Meanwhile, The Givers has released a short statement in response to Dispatch's report, saying they are currently looking into the validity of these claims.

The more we learn the worse this gets, personally I would have liked some confirmation from the Swedish trio but I also doubt Dispatch would say something this damning if they weren’t sure, this is a serious nail in The Givers coffin and should trigger an investigation by KOMCA or the police at the very least.

And the general consensus from the 50/50 supporters on Twitter is that the girls want to ditch Attrakt for The Givers, if that’s the case that would be like going from the frying pan and jumping into the fire if they win their case, I can’t see anyone coming out of this terrible situation intact, the girls would have done better staying silent until this was all put to bed but they just seem as much complicit as victims in this whole mess.
