FIFTY FIFTY's label Attrakt is suing the CEO of The Givers for allegedly secretly buying the copyright for the girl group's hit song "Cupid".
On June 27, Attrakt stated, "We filed a criminal complaint against Ahn Sung IL, CEO of The Givers, and three other individuals at Gangnam Police Station." The Givers has been responsible for managing projects under a service contract with Attrakt, and according to Attrakt, The Givers have engaged in obstruction of business, fraud, and breach of trust, "including deleting project data, delaying tasks, deleting company's mail accounts," and more.
The label continued, "During the process of purchasing the song 'Cupid' from a foreign composer, The Givers did not provide information to Attrakt on the purchase of copyrights. The CEO and the company did it themselves secretly."
In other news, Attrakt released a statement on an attempted closure of FIFTY FIFTY's official fan cafe by an unauthorized account. The label has also claimed another agency attempted to poach FIFTY FIFTY, and Warner Music Korea later denied allegations against them.

Ugh. The potential for this group's future is dimming every second.
Attrakt can't play this "we're a tiny company and don't know anything" card forever just to illicit sympathy. Knowing basic information like copyright holdings is something that companies should have well in hand.
There's a distinct possibility that Fifty Fifty's long term prospects for global success were never gonna materilize beyond this massive success of a TikTok trend song, but they at least deserve the chance to try. Instead, their song continues to sit in Billboard's top 30, and all the opportunities this has given them are disappearing. I'm aware that the company claims a member needed surgery, but in almost the same breath they also were whining about the girls attempted poaching by a larger company. Their disappearance from any promotions abroad seems like it might be connected. And honestly? They'd be way better off with Warner Korea, a company that has experience, capital and basic competency.
