'Queendom 2' producer speaks up about 'Evil Editing' ahead of the premiere of the show

The production team of Mnet's 'Queendom 2' revealed their thoughts on the editing controversy after the pre-release video.

On the morning of the 30th, the production presentation of Mnet's 'Queendom 2' was held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Taeyeon, comedian Lee Yong Jin, Brave Girls' Minyoung, VIVIZ's Umji, Cosmic Girls' Exy, LOONA's Yves, Kep1er's Yujin, Hyolyn, and chief producer Park Chan Wook, and producer Lee Yeon Gyu attended the event and talked about various things.

'Queendom 2' is a survival program in which the six best K-pop idol teams release singles at the same time and enter a comeback competition. In the previously released teaser video, the cast seemed to be on edge as the atmosphere became cold, as if they were just in an argument. Regarding this, some responded that Mnet might have edited the videos to cause tension, as they are infamous for the 'evil editing.'

In this regard,  producer Lee Yeon Gyu said, "Rather than saying we edited the video to cause drama, I think the viewer's level of standard has become higher. So our objective is to show everything without hiding anything."

She continued, "Everyone is sweating, practicing, and working hard to show the four-minute performance. We're trying to deal with that in a more sincere and greater way. We'll try our best to show the performance of the six people perfectly."

Mnet's 'Queendom 2' is a survival program in which Brave Girls, VIVIZ, Cosmic Girls, LOONA, Kep1er, and Hyolyn compete. Girls' Generation's Taeyeon is the grandmaster, and comedian Lee Yong Jin is the queen manager. The first broadcast is at 9:20 PM on the 31st KST.

After all their past antics, I don't think Mnet knows how to do a survival show without evil editing. It's kind of their rule book. There's always a villain. It would be outstanding if they actually refrain from it for once.

Queendom isn't so much a "survival show" but just a weekly variety show where groups perform various songs and interesting units. No one is ever going to be removed from this I guarantee you. With that said, most of these girls know each other on a personal level. SinB's evil edit was probably scripted to add a little spice to the episode. Both girls are friends so don't read too much on what happened. Will there be more, probably, but I'm hoping the viewer intelligence level is above being duped by MNet's "evil editing".
