This week's Billboard Hot 100 chart has been announced. All 'BE' tracks (except 'Skit') debut on the chart, with 'Life Goes On' charting at #1. It is the third win for BTS after 'Dynamite' and 'Savage Love Remix.'
'Stay,' a Jungkook, Jin, and RM subunit song— which was originally intended as the last track of Jungkook's mixtape— charted at #22 on Billboard Hot 100. This makes it the highest-charting sub-unit song in BTS's history on the chart.
Jungkook now has four (4) entries on Billboard Hot 100 with 1 solo song, 2 collaborations, and 1 sub-unit song:
1. 'My Time'
Jungkook's solo song which he is also credited as songwriter/composer. Charted at #84 (highest-charting BTS solo song).
2. 'Savage Love Remix'
Jason Derulo x Jawsh 685 x BTS (Jungkook, J-hope, Suga) collaboration. Charted at #1 (highest-charting BTS collaboration).
3. 'Waste It On Me'
Steve Aoki x BTS (Jungkook, RM) collaboration. Charted at #89.
Jungkook-Jin-RM subunit song, which Jungkook is also credited as songwriter/composer. Charting at #22 (highest-charting BTS subunit song).
With this, Jungkook is now the BTS member with the most entries on Billboard Hot 100, three (3) of them are the highest-charting in their respective categories as mentioned above.
The good news doesn't stop there as Singer-Songwriter Jungkook now has a couple of new additions to his bag. Besides debuting on Billboard Hot 100, 'Stay' and 'Telepathy'— in which Jungkook co-performed and co-wrote— both debut on Billboard Digital Song Sales chart at #3 and #4 respectively.
As Jungkook's solo song 'My Time'— which is co-written by Jungkook— previously debuted at #2 on Billboard Digital Song Sales right after title track 'ON,' Singer-Songwriter Jungkook now has three (3) Top5 entries on Billboard Digital Song Sales, a very remarkable feat for both singing and songwriting.
'Stay' has received many praises from fans, media, and music industry professionals ever since its release. Brian Cantor, the founder of Headline Planet, mentioned, "Of all the songs on BE, Stay would get the best pop radio callouts." He also added, "Stay would appeal to people who liked Black Eyed Peas at their commercial peak (which is basically everyone)." Vox reviewed 'Stay,' saying it is exactly their jam, a multi-layered song that starts out with a specific flavor of early-90s pop before opening up into a breezy EDM beat. They added, "You’re lucky I even stopped looping ‘Stay’ to listen to the rest of this album."
In addition, Jungkook extends his record as the longest charting K-pop idol on Billboard World Digital Song Sales this week with ‘Euphoria’ (charting for 41 weeks). ‘My Time’ is the second longest charting K-pop solo song with 38 weeks (ties with ‘Filter’).
To top everything off, MV Director Jungkook debuts #1 on Billboard Hot 100 with 'Life Goes On' is truly the icing on the cake!
