5th staff at MBC’s variety department tests positive for COVID-19

On December 24, MBC confirms another case of COVID-19 positive staff at their Sangam-dong office building, bringing the numbers up to 5 staffs who have been tested positive in the past 6 days.

According to an MBC official who told E-Daily, “A freelance staff member of MBC’s variety show ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’ was tested positive for COVID-19.”

The staff was reportedly working in the office from the 20th to the 21st. In response MBC has done their due diligence in contact tracing within the office and placed necessary quarantine measures.

Since December 18, MBC has had 5 staffs who are tested positive for COVID-19, amongst which includes staff who worked on ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’, ‘The Masked Singer’ as well as the building’s cleaning staff.

Comedian Hong Hyun Hee has also been detected as a possible close contact, and has been under self-quarantine since.

Meanwhile the upcoming episode of ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’ which was scheduled to air on the 26th will be cancelled.
