Entertainment agency CEO receives 5-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting trainees

A famous entertainment agency CEO has received a prison sentence of five years.

After being charged with habitual sexual assault, CEO 'Lee' has been confirmed to serve prison time, in addition to an 80-hour therapy program on sexual assault. Furthermore, the CEO would be publicly labeled for sexual crimes over the next 7 years, and will be prohibited from working for institutions related to underage persons for 10 years.

For several years, the CEO had scammed and sexually assaulted the agency's trainees with the fake promise of guaranteeing them drama roles. Afterwards, Lee had asked each trainee to pay over 200 thousand KRW for an exclusive contract. Ultimately, Lee was charged with both fraud and assault.

I don’t think we should be okay with such a weak punishment.

Plus sexual predators usually have more victims who doesn’t comeback forward or report it due to different circumstances. So I would imagine there’s more people he has taken advantage of

Higher than the U.S. surprisingly.. Korea is weak on violence.. Sexual assault is nothing in the U.S... 1 year would be crazy unless it was full on rape.

So why is his name not released? Celebrities get outed right away, even before the police gets to investigate, yet this guy has been sentenced and no name?

To be honest... part of me thinks it should be. The other part of me is thinking that, while I don't think this is the reason it wasn't released, if it were to be released it would likely be very easy to find out the identities of those who were assaulted (who don't want it to be public knowledge).

The bigger outrage is that he received such a short sentence.

yah but then sometimes the people that were assulted get exposed and not even the assulter gets exposed like that is so disgusting

if the victims' identities were revealed (for whatever reason), then it makes sense to reveal the perpetrator without a second thought. but i think, if it is possible, it is most important not to subject a victim to further victimisation.

yeah, that's not fair. Just let someone, anyone, say something about an idol and their name is plastered all over the news and social media within hours without the allegations even being investigated.. This guy needs to have his name plastered since he has already received a prison sentence!!

Behind the happiness kpop brings to many of us There is this side that they don't show us

there is trainees that are getting sexual assaulted while others get beaten up and threatened to not tell for their own dreams

also the sentence is so light and then you wonder why those things keep happening ,only 5 years after sexually assaulting trainees??its not even one trainee wth

The current president of which I not vote for is abusive towards women and is rather public about. He would not find this an issue since his own moral compass is in need of redirection. Personally I am embarrassed that this guy is our president and emulates a human being.

I agree the sentence doesn't fit the crime. However, I am glad they recognize the crime and attempted something rather than nothing! The first steps in the right direction can sometime be trying and painful. It feels outrageous now, and rightly so but remember the victims were heard and they got to use their voice. Hopefully in the future they will implement a stronger penance.

I agree that the reason they do not out him is not for his sake but for that of the victims. The victims have been through enough pain and suffering. They were brave enough to step forward for not only themselves, but for those who could not and for future victims. They gave sexually assaulted victims a voice. They are hero's in my book. If you out the abuser you out the victims they need peace to move on. If you make them public moving on and forward is so much harder, and sometimes impossible.

I am pleased and proud of each and every victim who exercised their voice and was heard they are amazingly brave and courageous! I wish them Peace, Love and to find the Happiness they have lost. Fighting!!!!!

Innocent people going on a harmless date get more publically crucified than this dirt bag. I don't believe for one minute that those girls are the only ones getting assaulted. Women in Korea are not treated equal and this sentence is validation. I feel sorry for all those girl groups. Send that creep to the US. Me Too movement will fry his ass. Creep.

"I feel sorry for all those girl groups. Send that creep to the US. Me Too movement will fry his ass. Creep."

I don't know man, there is a certain dude in the White House that even bragged about sexually assaulting women and he's now the President of the US. Pretty sure Korea's own MeToo is the reason he got sentenced. The problem of course is the length of the sentence for us westerners, but now that's difference in dealing with the law across different countries. Regardless he will get his eventually... no way he'll be able to show his face or name in the Korean public ever again.

Yeah that other creep in the White House just as bad. Glad the Dems have taken over and hopefully impeach him. He's no better than this guy in Korea. Only difference is his rank. Going to take a little longer with this low life.

What a sick piece of trash :( Should have gotten more time. And if he's to be publicly outed as part of his sentence, WHERE is his NAME????? Why is it that idols' names get run thru the media on mere rumors and suspicions, while THIS creep, CONVICTED no less, is still anonymous????

guys, stop trying to guess who it is! You are pretending to care so much about justice, and outing the ceo so he can get shamed, but you’re dragging innocent men into this as well! How just is that?

There are hundreds of CEOs with the family name LEE, what is the point of listing the names of some of these CEOs here when you cant prove sh*t?

Ok, this is the current CEO's/Co-CEOs with the surname Lee that I've shortlisted:

Lee Jae-wook - Kakao M

Lee Beom Soo (movie production and artist management) - Celltrion Entertainment

Lee Jae-young - CI Entertainment

Lee Jin-sung - King Kong by Starship

Lee Jong-myung - Polaris Entertainment (Fun Fact: It's previous CEO Lee Gyu Tae was arrested for Fraud and sexually humiliated his actress as claimed by Clara) https://www.allkpop.com/article/2015/03/polaris-te...

Lee Hun-hee - SM Culture & Contents

Lee Jae-hong - TOP Media

Lee Won-min - WM Entertainment

Lee Jung-yeop - Woollim Entertainment

Lee Sang Gyu - Yeuhua Entertainment

Btw, Lee Soo Man isn't the CEO anymore for years already....

Lee is one of the most common surnames in Korea along with Park, Choi and Kim (especially Kim), There are probably 50 CEOs with the name Lee.
