Pledis trainee Heo Yun Jin talks about what gave her strength growing up in a foreign country + Kaeun gives dieting tips
Trainee Heo Yun Jin revealed that she actually grew up in New York, U.S.A, only becoming a trainee earlier this year. Heo Yun Jin shared a bit about how she first came to dream of becoming an idol. "8 months after I was born in Korea, my family immigrated to New York, and I lived there until the beginning of this year. Then, I ending up passing my auditions and went on 'Produce 48'. When I was younger, I was made fun of a lot for having the name Yun Jin in school, and also suffered from racism. The thing that gave me strength through the difficult times was K-Pop. As I listened to music, I thought about what I like, and how to express myself. I realized I wanted to become an artist who could provide strength to people, like how I found strength in my childhood," the trainee said.
Heo Yun Jin's fellow 'Kirinz' partner, After School's Kaeun, shared some of her own tips on dieting and maintaining her figure. She began with, "When you practice a healthy diet, you look prettier." She added, "I've tried very strict diets in the past. But now, I know that such diets are actually terrible for your body. So now, I try not to eat junk food, and work out as much as I can. I can't stand being hungry so I don't dare cut back on my meal portions. Instead, I try to eat food with minimal seasoning. Almost like eating raw food, I've cut back on seasoning which adds salts and sugars. If you practice this habit for a month and get used to it, then my body refuses junk foods I liked in the past like ramen. It's like detoxifying."
Finally, the two girls gave some insight into when fans can see them promoting. Kaeun stated, "There's nothing specific or concrete planned out, but I would like to greet everyone as 'Kirinz' with Yun Jin after we find the best possible option. We are currently practicing hard with that in mind."
