Cool now they will start working for a US debut that will take years and several weird colab songs and singles that are totally not an official debut...

I feel like that too. Idk about the future but the one with Dua Lipa was not good.

Where in this article or any source is it stated that they will debut in English? CL on the other hand wanted to be an American Pop star. If anything this is more similar to BTS

Kpop's fascination with making it within the US music market still after all these years.

They want the US dollars! There's a reason why no one has ever tried getting into the European music industry because the US market is the key to the rest of the world (entertainment wise).

well, US is the largest music industry in the world. Even a small slice is worth much more interms of recognition and monitary gain than asia.

And Japan's is the second largest, where k-idols actually can and do suceed. The USA is a waste of time and money.

This is good news. I am hoping for a lot of good songs and collaborations, not just 4 songs in mini album. I hope they still choose teddy’s song to be the title track. Because teddy’s trademark has become Blackpink’s identity/signature.

wow another CL situation why can't they do it like Big Hit did just keep doing u which is kpop there way why do they have to conform to a system there not use to, BTS has shown that u can break the glass ceiling at least they have left a huge crack in it other groups just have to smash a couple more time and it will break. I just hope they don't take forever to debut and also they keep promoting in korea while preparing they have so much potential to be great pls don't stop the momentum they have going

yes, they did, this year, after 5 years, numerous comebacks and a steady climb. they only signed in the usa after charting there with several releases each higher than the last. only after there was a demand for them in the usa. not with ONE comeback in TWO years, NINE whole songs and literally zero presence in the states aside from ONE charted album that fell 160 ranks and completely off the chart after ONE week.

regardless of whether one is a bp fan or not this is not a good move. this will not ensure success in the usa and will damage their standing in SK, where they still don't have strong enough presence, since YG screwed them over with the long wait for the comeback.

no-one is saying don't try out for the states. but forcing it this soon with this weak presence as a group will only hurt them in BOTH countries.

SAME OLD 2NE1 TYPE OF STRATEGY. REMEMBER WHEN 2NE1 WAS SO HIT DURING THEIR DEBUT AND YG WASTED A WHOLE YEAR FOR WILL.I.AM'S TRACK OR POSSIBLE US DEBUT THAT NOWHERE TO BE FOUND NOW. THE WHOLE US DEBUT PLAN WAS PART OF THE REASON WHY THEY ALWAYS DELAY THEIR COMEBACKS.

THEIR JAPANESE PROMO WAS NOT EVEN AS SUCCESSFUL AS THEY CLAIM IT TO BE. THEIR KOREAN FAN BASE IS NOT ALSO NOT THAT ESTABLISHED.

WELL, GOOD LUCK TO BLACKPINK.

I am scared for them, US side probably saw BTS and thought they could make money off of kpop group. If things wont go as they planned they'll ditch BP. I really hope that wont happen......

I really hope they just promote their Korean songs one of the biggest mistakes is trying to westernize themselves as we learned from 2NE1... and as you can see with BTS for example people DO NOT have a problem with Kpop being globalized.

Black Pink was designed to be a global group, so I think they will be releasing English only songs to break into the Western market. I wish they would stick to singing in Korean as well, but YG seems really keen on pushing into the US market. It's a really hard market to crack and having long term success is rare.

we fans waiting since debut to have that studio album YG promise when BP debut hope we can at least have a mini album in english in upcoming months 💃

before all this happen cant YG at lest release another new single this year 🤦

I wish this wasn’t in partnership with YG... anyway their contract better not be like CLs and there better be a full album release on the way.

Sadly it has to be in partnership with YG. Blackpink belongs to YG Entertainment the group was formed by them and the music is created by them the members don't have any legal rights to the brand-name BLACKPINK or the music release under BP.

The real title should be:

"YG sign distribuition deal with Interscope Records, subsidiary of Universal Music Group"

Bullshit, they can't sign anything, they belong to YG, YG signed a deal of distribuition with Interscope, a distribuiton company of UMG... don't be delusional...

With kpop now being more and more mainstream not only in Asia.. But also Europe and America.. Of course the music producer see the market is changing.. YG and Interscope can make Blackpink promote more in the US.. Their social media power is amazing.. Look at their Youtube views and Instagram followers!!

I'm more a fan of other groups like TWICE ( i am more into girlish cheerful kind of group) .. But seeing the US market, and look how the us market response towards the girls, of course they can! And hopefully, YG be more serious and put efforts towards them on the long run.. Put special team to be with them over there, without forgetting their other talents in the agency as well

I'm guessing YG Entertainment isn't continuing on with their Scooter Braun-Project partnership lol. Either YG was like nope after he fucked up with CL or SB was tired of YG's mess.

I was really damn happy but after reading the comments I have freaking mixed emotions now. Plus I just hope they won't take years for them to be successful and are hopefully like BTS I guess because they got a lot of success really damn fast! But whatever Blinkeus hwaiting and Blackpinkeu fighting!!!!💖💖💖💖💖 Plus nice new update AllKpop💖💖💖

This means that BP has to work with Interscope producers to cut a record in the U.S.

Are they making English songs? I hope not.

Excited for them...but

- i hope this label isnt as useless as CL's (When will her contract end pls :'( )

- we are still waiting for the k-comeback darn it!! T_T

- honestly, why cant kpop artists work on their 'US promotions', like BTS or Jay Park's hip hop group, they dont have US contracts but they still promote there better than the US signed k-artists

hmm I don't know. I am happy for them but I hope that these companies learn that I or people like Kpop because of Korean and the fact that its different from western music. I don't want a full English speaking/singing blackpink. Collaborations are fine. BTS proofed that you can still make it singing in your own language mixed with English. Also still feel sorry how all this went for Cl and 2Ne1 in general. I hope YG learned how to handle these situations. I am a YG Stan for almost 10 years and really think he did not do a good job managing the company since big bang went to military and he was sick for some time. BP is a hit and he can be happy they are this successful with just a view singles and MVs.

I hope that they get the best of both worlds, come out with albums and promote in the US.

Um, in other words here, it has been made official that BLACKPINK is indeed taking on the American music market as many have been suspecting all along. And before someone tries to give these talented ladies a hard time over nothing at all, I expect them to let the group musically grow on them and judge for themselves if they like this group or not. If they do, then they're officially a fan. And if not, then it's best for them to keep on moving and find some other talented American artists like In Real Life and Camila Cabello to stan and spazz over.
