According to British media outlet Metro on May 21, BTS's MV for "Fake Love" did NOT surpass the 40 million views mark in the first 24 hours as previously reported, after speaking with a representative from YouTube.

A few days ago, various media outlets celebrated BTS's "Fake Love" MV surpassing 41 million views in the first 24 hours after release, breaking Psy's K-pop record at 38.4 million. Now, according to Metro, YouTube says BTS's official record for the first 24-hour view count is at 35.9 million views. Fans have also noticed views going missing on BTS's "Fake Love" MV with 10 million views and 3 million views suddenly disappearing. It appears YouTube's algorithm is adjusting the view count.

In this case, BTS's "Fake Love" will fall behind Psy's "Gentleman" as the 3rd MV of all time with the most views in the first 24 hours. It will still be recognized as the MV with the most views in 24 hours of 2018 so far.

"According to the (YouTube) spokesperson, BTS' Fake Love official music video 'received 35.9million views in its first 24 hours, making it the biggest 24 hour debut of 2018 and the third biggest 24 hour debut of all time.' Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do' is No.1 with 43.2 million views, followed by Psy's Gentleman, which had 36million views in the first 24 hours, and then of course BTS' Fake Love." - Metro
