On January 22, it was reported that Korean citizens have been detained in Malaysia for illegally selling Wanna One goods. In regards to the report, a rep of South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated to Sports Chosun, "It's confirmed that a total of 7 people, who were arrested at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for violation of immigration laws on the 19th, are our citizens."
The rep continued, "A total of 19 people have been arrested. 7 of them are Korean. They have been arrested and are under investigation for breaking the immigration law (absence of passports, overstaying their tourist visas, selling goods when they're not allowed to, etc.). It's against the law to engage in other acts than touring with the tourist visa. They are under investigation as they have violated this part. They are still in custody."
Meanwhile, witnesses have been sharing about the fans' illegal acts via social media. According to these netizens, the fans have tried to sneak in cameras, and some also illegally sold Wanna One merchandise at the boy group's fan meeting in Stadium Negara on January 19.
