During the December 9 episode of 'The Unit', one of the mentors, Jo Hyun Ah, visited some contestants in their dorm rooms. She came around to Ahreum's room and the two chatted briefly.
Jo Hyun Ah asked if Ahreum is purposely trying to lose weight as the contestant sat alone in her room skipping dinner once again. Ahreum said, "Because I heard people telling me to go on a diet at least once a day. Compared to the audition stage, I lost over 11kg (24 pounds). To stand on the stage, I need to go on a diet. When I wasn't active (hiatus), I weighed as much as 73kg (161 pounds). At the time, it was really difficult too."
Ahreum continued, "Because I have to lose weight and adjust to meet each person's different mental states, it became really stressful." Jo Hyun Ah asked if she is receiving treatments and Ahreum responded, "If I can't handle it...initially I received some consultations because it was hard for me to adjust to everything." Jo Hyun Ah said, "But don't force yourself to try to be happy. Just be as who you are and be comfortable."
Ahreum thanked the mentor by saying, "For me, rather than receiving advice on my singing and dancing, I think meeting you like this once and having a chance to converse helps me more."
