Sadly, many of our beloved idols have suffered from depression and anxiety on more than one occasion. With a hectic schedule and demanding job, being an idol isn't all fun and games and these idols are proof that behind their sweet smiles may lay some emotional pain. Check out this list of idols you didn't know suffered from these terrible conditions.

Big Bang G-Dragon

The quirky entertainer revealed after the release of "Heartbreaker" he "felt like a criminal" and "was depressed for a really long time" due to a plagiarism scandal.

After School Lizzy

After first starting hit show 'Running Man,' Lizzy revealed she suffered from depression due to media reports involving her position on the show. Rumors seem to always cause stress for idols and Lizzy was another victim of it.

Super Junior Heechul

Friendships can make or break you - and for Super Junior's Heechul it was more devastating. After the departure of member Hankyung, Heechul felt a void in his life and said, "Hyung we don't need you for your singing or your dancing but we need you because without you Super Junior isn't the same."

B1A4 Baro

Distance makes the heart grow fonder, but in this case it made it worse. After filming 'Reply 1994,' Baro became very attached to the cast and grew upset due to their busy schedules. Because he couldn't see them, he started becoming melancholic.

U-KISS Kiseop

Before joining U-KISS, Kiseop revealed he suffered from depression and even had thoughts of suicide due to his many failed auditions.

Big Bang T.O.P

The charismatic rapper was reported to have suffered from anxiety attacks alongside his depression in 2008. Fans speculated he was overworked and that his frequent trips to the hospital were the cause behind it. While we hope he has recovered, T.O.P actually wrote the lyrics to "Loser," which has us thinking otherwise.

2AM Jinwoon

Success isn't everything. After a major U.S tour back in 2010, member Jinwoon stated he had suffered from depression. He couldn't sleep or function properly form months at a time and often spent his days alone.

Girls' Generation Taeyeon

The wonderful Singer Taeyeon was noted for having depression and stated she'd get "Multiple piercings to relieve stress." Her members often commented on her melancholic mood and the way she'd only listen to sad music.

Super Junior Henry

Henry revealed on MBC's 'Real Men' that he suffered from anxiety due to his ADHD for some time. His unpredictable behavior and erratic tendencies made him worrisome and bothered from time to time.

Miss A Suzy

"I have something like depression and I couldn't tell anyone for a while. I even began to think I couldn't last another day. One day I was chatting with my friend and laughing at a joke and all of a sudden I began crying." Believe it or not this was a confession Suzy opened up about in 2013 on a live broadcast. While she may be in the spotlight for many great reasons, Suzy found herself struggling internally.

2AM Jo Kwon

While he may bring laughter to the stage, it was revealed that Jo Kwon suffered during his 8 years of training and felt overwhelmed by the stress of transitioning into an idol.

The beautiful angel IU was noted to suffer from Bulimia and used food as a coping method. She would even eat until the point of throwing up.

This is why I say that all hate is bad... even if they do something wrong give them constructed criticism not baseless, unwarranted hate... They gave up too much and worked too hard for you to judge them based on one mistake, and because they worked so hard i'm sure they're willing to change and better themselves to keep going if you give them the chance. I dislike that many people think idols and actors are 2D, that everything they see on the screen is who they really are. They're actual human beings who have a complex life with their own sets of thoughts, morals, and backgrounds/problems. Also the excuse that "They're a celebrity they signed up for it" doesn't work. What is the job description of a celebrity? To entertain people in their field. Nowhere does it say they have to sit and take your incompetent bum's hate. They signed up to work hard, maybe sleep less and do hours that aren't conventional, they never signed up to be your sick form of stress relief. Maybe haters should go find some hobbies.

Well, yah in life when you make choices you gotta deal with the consequences of those choices. Criticisms whatever your career or life situation is part of being human. You can't control what people will say or think abt you. if you don't think you'd be strong enough to handle criticism then you might wanna reconsider your choices. I agree with you when you said what celebs portray on screen doesn't mean their true selves. Fans hate to admit it but like it or not, celebs create public images for themselves that will gain them fans & fame. In Hollywood how many celebs do you think are real & genuine on & off camera. It goes the same in showbiz anywhere. Celebs who wanna stay on top always watch what they say & do. Even when they interact with fans, do you really think all of them are being sincere & genuine. To most fans are just their means of staying on top. Do you really think your bias would give her wealth or life for you? But some fans are will do anything for their bias. Hardcore fans are the ones who easily spew hate when other people criticize their bias yet they're the ones who accuse others of hate. Imagine that. It's so dumb, the minute you call someone a hater, you're the one instigating hate. People have been misusing the 'hate' word anyway since not liking a celeb doesn't make you a Nazi or a terrorist LOL For ex every article abt Suzy, it embarasses me to be a Miss A fan when I see all those nasty comments from overdefensive fans, when someone criticizes Suzy they become really nasty, sounding like ill-mannered, uneducated kids wrote them. Anyway, celebs can fake their way to stay on top. As far as depression goes, I don't wanna sound harsh but unless you've been professionally diagnosed, anyone can claim to have it. If you feel your sadness isn't normal go get professional help. The thing with celebs is they can be good manipulators. If you want to gain the public affection, do & say what you can to get it like be the underdog, put out all these sob stories, make people feel bad & sorry for you then you've got fans eating at the palm of your hand. Who's to know they're lying? Even us who aren't in showbiz aren't immune to criticisms

Who said they aren't? It's overdefensive fans who act like animals. Anyway, celebrities are like politicians, don't forget.
