It has been six weeks since Korean citizens began to gather on weekends to protest against President Park Geun Hye's corruption scandal and to demand that she step down.

Just last week's protest gathered more than 2 million people in Seoul

One of the distinguishing characteristics of these weekly protests is that almost all participants hold a candle, making a beautiful ocean of light.

Because the protests usually last through the night, many citizens started to use LED candles, like the ones below:

Some people got even more creative than that, bringing anything and everything that can add light to the sea of protestors:

Yes, one person brought Pikachu

Some K-Pop fans who participated in these protests started to use their fan light sticks as an alternative, which actually totally makes sense since they are specifically built to emit light and can be held in hand easily.

So these lights that usually light concerts....

...started showing up at protests...

There was no rivalry or hard feelings among fans since they were all fighting for the same cause: to make a better Korea.

One fan held a banner that read, "Make this society better so I can go back to stanning my idol."

One fan stick that was particularly effective and bright were the SHINee sticks. They are seriously so bright:

They're so bright that it could be seen from a long distance on TV broadcasts...
