Through IOI's official fan cafe, YMC Entertainment has relayed news that Jeon So Mi was unable to stand with IOI on stage for the event, due to her minor status. The notice from the label read as follows:

Hello. This is YMC Entertainment.
Please understand that we must deliver unfortunate news to everyone's anticipation for KCON France 2016.
Jeon So Mi was unable to stand on stage with IOI, as she was unapproved for KCON France 2016. We deliver Mnet's stance regarding the matter.
We [Mnet] cast IOI so that they could join the first ever KCON in Europe. We did our best to seek approval for Jeon So Mi to work at age 15, but due to time constraints, we were denied.
Jeon So Mi is also greatly disappointed that she was unable to greet her fans due to the issue, but is awaiting the next opportunity when the entirety of IOI can greet their French fans.
We're likely disappointed and sorry, that although we did our best, fans who waited to see the 11 members of IOI were let down. We will make it up to you with a better opportunity in the future.

The legal working age in France is 16 years old, but Jeon So Mi, being 15 years old in international age, was unable to receive proper work approval in time to stand on stage with the rest of the IOI members.

We hope fans still enjoyed IOI's performance at 'KCON France 2016'!

When did the agency know IOI was going to perform at KCON? If it was too short notice i sort of understand, but i can hardly imagine it to be so long that they didn't have the time to get things in order...?

Yeah, I doubt they suddenly were like "You need to be in France in 2 days". I am sure they had time they just didn't know they needed a permit

intricate kfan1357 Friday, June 3, 2016

that would be so so silly..... maybe they thought she didn't need it because she's Canadian? Would definitely like to hear the real reason.

They only had a month or less to get the work permit. You know how gov't red tape is. It's not as simple as buying a stamp. And they needed an exemption from child labor rules. (Sorry for the late comment)

so either the schedule got confirmed too soon before the actual performance or management waited too long to get things organized.

qnaug Angelika90 Friday, June 3, 2016

This problem was easily bypassable... They could say that Jeon Somi presence on the stage is only training, not work.

ilikeJB Stefano_italy Friday, June 3, 2016

It's not that easy. For Somi's sake I hope they won't go that route. She could get in a big trouble with the immigration.

intricate ilikeJB Friday, June 3, 2016

I wonder if she's the one getting in trouble though, she's underage, so most likely her manager and/or anyone else involved would get in big trouble.. Their agency might be sued.. stuff like that. But yeah... -big- trouble.

In the cases of immigration, the passport holder will get the biggest consequences and may not be able to enter France in a couple of years.

brendabear99 Friday, June 3, 2016

I hope Somi will be able to perform at KCON LA
