On February 7, The Star released news of Gun's plans to take a shot at the hip hop survival program. According to the report, appearing on 'SMTM 5' won't be Gun's first time on a survival program, as he had previously taken part in Mnet's 'No Mercy' last year.

Song Min Ho, who has more years of experience as a rapper in both the underground scene and K-Pop, was said to have advised his cousin, "Call me whenever you need me. Don't cower and be the first to do something no matter what. If you don't do anything then you will be forgotten. Do Something. Start writing a lot of lyrics now."
