Actress Chun Yi Seul won the litigation against her former label's president and the director of aplastic surgery clinic whom she sued for infringing on her rights by using her images without permission and illegally advertising them on the clinic's website.
According to the law firm employed by Chun Yi Seul, Chief Justice Jo Kyu Hyun of the Civil Affairs Department in Seoul Central District Court stated that defendants 'A' clinic's director and Chun Yi Seul's prior label president illegally advertised the actress' pictures without her consent. The Chief Justice asserted that due to their unauthorized acts, the plaintiff's private life, freedom, and rights have been violated, making the defendants liable for damages.
A rep from Chun Yi Seul's side added, "The prior label's president also paid damages for his threat to upload [Chun Yi Seul's] plastic surgery photos. It was ruled that 'A' clinic's director will be compensating the plaintiff 15,000,000 KRW (~$13,600 USD) and the prior label's president will be compensating the plaintiff 20,000,000 KRW (~$18,000 USD)."
Lawyer Yoon Hong Bae,from the firm that is representing Chun Yi Seul, stated, "This ruling will be a wake up call for the defendants who took advantage of an aspiring actress by using her images illegally to collect advertising revenues."
