According to album sales site, Hanteo Chart, on December 10, EXO topped their list for the most sales this year for the second year in a row! The '2014 Album Award' ranks the album sales from January 1 to December 9 and the boys placed both first and second.
EXO-K's second album, 'Overdose,' released back in May sold 231,986 copies while EXO-M's Chinese version of 'Overdose' sold 174,576 for first and second place respectively with a combined sales figure of 406,562 copies. Even last year, EXO's repackaged first album and the Korean version of their first studio album placed first and second on this list.
Meanwhile, in third place is label mate TVXQ with their seventh album, 'Tense,' which was released back in January with total sales of 159,899 copies! In fourth was Super Junior's seventh album, 'Mamacita,' released in September. The group sold 127,445 copies to their excited fans.
Ranked fifth to tenth were INFINITE's second album 'Season 2' with 118,558 sales, B1A4's second album 'Who Am I?' with 115,777 sales, B2ST's sixth mini-album 'Good Luck' with 112,528 sales, B.A.P's first album 'Sensibility' with 104,338 sales, Girls' Generation's fourth mini-album 'Mr.Mr' with 101,574 sales, and JYJ's second album 'Just Us' with 87,597 sales.
It is noted that Girls' Generation was the only girl group to make the top ten, the list was dominated by SM artists, and that nine of the ten artists were able to surpass 100,000 sales. Even with about 20 days left on the table, this is a number that is smaller than last year when 14 albums managed to surpass 100,000 sales!
In the '2014 Singer Award,' TVXQ came out first with 283,731 sales while EXO-K fell in second place with 263,665 sales. EXO (as a group) was in fourth place with 232,813 sales, and EXO-M in eighth place with 194,511 sales. In third was Super Junior and fifth INFINITE. The 'Singer Award' chart takes into account all old albums released throughout the artists' career, but only factors in sales that those albums made in 2014.
