Veteran singer Shin Hae Chul (46) has passed away after a cardiac arrest on October 27 at 8:19 PM KST.

Agency KCA Entertainment revealed that due to a sudden cardiac arrest, he had passed away in the ICU of Asan Medical Center in Seoul with his family members watching over him. A rep stated, "The medical team revealed that the cause of death was a hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.  After Shin Hae Chul visited the emergency room of Asan Medical Center on October 22 at 2:00 PM KST in a comatose state, he received the best treatment including emergency surgery, but he passed away in the end.  Despite everybody's earnest desire for Shin Hae Chul's recovery and despite the medical team's efforts, he was unable to make a recovery and we send our deep condolences to his family."

The agency revealed he had underwent surgery because of a cardiac compression resulting from a swollen intestine.  He leaves behind his wife, Yoon Won Hee, as well as a son and a daughter.  His memorial service will take place on October 28, but his final burial site has not been decided as of yet.  May he rest in peace.
