Singer Ayumi (currently active in Japan as ICONIQ) decided to shut down her Facebook due to threats. While she was not clear on the reasons or backstory, people are speculating it may be due to her possible relationship with Japanese celebrity Gackt.

On November 25, she left a message on Facebook:
"I have nothing to say except that this is sad. I did not start Facebook because of these reasons. I think I embrace every feeling.
Whether you are hurting someone with groundless slander, constantly sending threatening mail, or dragging uninvolved people into this, it all makes my heart ache.
No matter how many times I've thought about it, I have decided that it was impossible to continue Facebook any longer. After my performance in Osaka, I will close my Facebook."
Netizens showed their sympathy with, "That's too bad," "Malicious comments appear to be a problem in Japan, too," and, "I hope the situation is remedied quickly."
