IU expresses her affection while reading a letter to her mother on a radio program

On October 16, IU appeared on Park Kyung Lim's radio program and read a letter to her mother.

She said, "[My mom] went to China for work.  Even if she leaves the house for just a week, the house becomes cold from the lack of warmth.  Now that I can look after myself, I wish she could live her life not as a mother but as a woman in a pretty and lovely way. She must feel lonely because my younger brother went to study abroad so I will play the role of a son, as well.  I wish my mother would enjoy life fully as a woman who becomes more beautiful and has no worries.  From now on, I will sing more songs that my mother would like."

DJ Park Kyung Lim said, "Does your mother still work even though you're earning a lot of money?"

IU replied, "My mother works in a wholesale business for accessories.  She works because she doesn't want to lose to me.  She said she wants to appear as IU's mother once she earns and has a lot of money.  That is why she does not tell people around her that her daughter is IU even now."
