In light of the recent controversy surrounding celebrity soldiers, one of which includes Se7en, more attention is being shed on the status of the singer's contract with YG Entertainment.

As some fans may already know, Se7en's contract was actually said to have expired in April of 2013, a month or so after his enlistment. A music industry insider also confirmed, "Se7en has already finished his contract with YG Entertainment. He naturally ended his contract after the expiration of the contract term."

However, the singer is still looked upon as being part of the agency in the technical sense as his profile and artist listing is still up on the agency's homepage as well as in the singer's public profile.

With his enlistment, his contract renewal was left up in the air, most likely until he finished his service. However with the current situation, questions are being raised about if the contract will be renewed at all after this whole ordeal.

When contacted regarding the matter, most of the YG reps kept a firm silence on the issue, commenting, "We cannot say anything regarding this matter." However, there was one rep that spoke a bit more in length, saying, "Our contract with Se7en expired before his enlistment. Normally contracts end with enlistment, but we had delayed it until after he went into the military in Se7en's case. Realistically, Se7en is not part of YG since his enlistment." On the issue of renewing the contract, the same rep, like the others, kept things vague as he stated, "We'll have to see when it gets around to the time of his discharge."

Despite of the issues about Se7en, I hope YG will never let go such a good artist. #backpack

Keeping silent is the best thing to do in this situation. just look at what happened when Sangchu's representative commented on the situation it made things worse and people took it as a stupid excuse. if YG says anything then it would have a similar reaction to that of T-ara's scandal. plus this is bigger than scandal because it deals with the law.

This may be a sad reality but, I don't think I'd love to see SE7EN go.. I always love him with YG! They've been insisting that they are FAMILY. But, a Family is a family, you don't just abandon one coz he did a huge mistake. His contract may have ended with YG but, still its a Family. A relationship had been created, they've bonded, and its PAINFUL to also witness things like this to a family member. YG may be thinking about how it would affect his business, but Money isn't everything. Values & how you treated the people around you matters most. ;

We can't deny the fact that what SE7EN did was really a big scandal to the K-POP Industry specially to the Republic of Korea. This isn't just a mere scandal, but a scandal that would truly leave a mark to SE7EN and how it would affect to the Koreans. ;

However, as for YG! I don't think it would also be proper to just let SE7EN go just coz he hit the rock bottom. ;

The least that YG could do is to give all the support they could give to SE7EN. ;

YG FAMILY..... It's a FAMILY.... They are FAMILY... I hope YG doesn't forget that. ;

Well, It's hard to be in YG's shoes right now concerning Se7en.

If he doesn't renew his contract, He basically loses the company's "family" moniker.

If he does renew it, he is stuck with Se7en being in limbo until his scandal goes away while getting mad hate from Koreans who took the scandal seriously.

As some of you are saying, YG stuck with Daesung for a good reason. He didn't do it on purpose. It was an accident. How can anyone fault him when he immediately showed remorse and took responsibility for it?

While Se7en, on the otherhand, thought that he could get away with it but he got caught... Not to mention the fact that Koreans take Military Duties VERY seriously.

I agree with you, Daesung is also part of Big Bang, which could cause problems to its fan base if they were to get rid of Daesung, and his scandal was totally different to Se7en's,

Poor se7en

lol i love how in the comments people are like, "Done! Seven's career is finished" which gets me thinking; YG stuck with Daesung...why not renew Seven's contract? Do we pass this off as a scandal and allow forgiveness on Seven's part, or do we let Seven struggle on his own, to inevitably become a dark mark on the Kpop industry... Does he deserve this hate, of course, but should it really allow him to end his career? All eyes are on YG.
