Shin Jung Hwan has apparently heard the news concerning his gambling debt, and predictably, he isn't taking it very well.
His representative stated in an interview today that after hearing Korean news reports, Shin Jung Hwan was "in agony." The representative also stated that Shin Jung Hwan seemed to be "at his wits' end", and those around him were frightened he might do something "impulsive."
The comedian and host is reported to be still at a hospital in Cebu. Reports about his gambling debt also seem to be factual, as he is currently unable to return to Korea after having his passport taken by the casino, causing him to miss his scheduled programs.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is said to have heard of the news, and Shin Jung Hwan will be able to return to Korea as he will receive a re-issue of his passport.
Shin Jung Hwan has previously been fined approximately $6000 for gambling debts in 2005, and has racked up $153,000 in debt at another casino in Korea during the past 6 months.
