Isn't it better to release at 12, since that's when the charts will start counting? I still don't understand these changes.

6PM is the magic time now. It makes All Kills and Perfect All Kills less easy to manipulate, since the chart starts in the evening where more people are active, so it gives a broader, more accurate reading.

untrue, music released in between 12pm-6pm will still chart throughout the night. it's just music that's released after 6pm that won't have any of its data taken into consideration until noon the day after

Yup. It's the latest time to get maximum tracking for the next day's charts.

wouldnt be the latest time 5pm kst? so it will show on the chart 6pm, if they release 6pm it wont chart until 7pm (which is not shown)

This trick isn't about charting on the 27th. It's about charting on the 28th. Get in right before the daily cut off so that the data overnight is being tracked for the next days chart. Then everything that happens during the chart blackout still counts when the blackout ends. It's quite sneaky.

ok now the question is if they release at 6pm, will it shown on the charts during chart blackout? if not how would they promote it so the GP can listen to it

Oh so they do count the streaming during the 24hs but only show results during those 6 hours? This is prolly the stupidest question, I know

ehehehehehe JungkookxYonghwa Friday, February 24, 2017

They probably only count streaming from 12pm to 6pm because otherwise, the so-called dedicated fans would continue streaming even at 3 or 4am just to keep their idols #1 on the charts, which isn't a true representation of the popularity of the songs, at least according to these charting sites. To put it simply, it's like games that releases world bosses at timings where most players are around, rather than spawning them at 3am where players go uncontested.

Yeah I'm confused by it as well because the articles I read said they don't track streaming outside of the 12p to 6p zone. So if all the fans start streaming right when it's released, they're streaming won't be counted. Unless this article is miswritten, I don't see how this benefits the group

It still counts, becuase the '6PM' data is actually counted from 6PM-7PM

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. To go from 24h streaming to 6h streaming?? Sounds ridiculous, especially if there's people who are not able to stream during those hours. And if weekly and year-end award shows will take these charts into consideration...

Well it makes sense for the charts because they wanted to stop fandoms from manipulating the charts. Fans would stream their groups on repeat at midnight so they would chart higher. So this change is making it a bit more fair so the charts aren't only biased to kpop groups or others with large fandoms. I didn't get why Gugudan has chosen to change their release time.
