Actress Kim Sun Young from 'Reply 1988' revealed that she knows nothing about the entertainment world.

On the December 14 installment of MBC's 'Radio Star,' Kim Sun Young surprised everyone by sharing the mistakes she made because she didn't follow the entertainment news.

The actress shared, "I didn't know Hyeri before 'Reply 1988,' so I just thought that she was a very good rookie actor. So I told her, 'You'll be famous soon,' and she replied jokingly, 'I'm already famous.'"

She also said, "I once noticed Yoo Yun Suk paying a lot of tax, so I asked, 'Why do you have so much tax? Are you a star or something?' And it turned out, he really was. Once time I asked Nam Sang Mi -- who debuted 13 years ago -- 'Is your dream to become an actor?'"

Kim Sun Young stated that nowadays, she looks up entertainment news to avoid making awkward mistakes. She said, "I know who Kim Kook Jin is dating, and I also watched Kyuhyun's new MV."

it's not 100% her fault. even among korean celebrities, not all of them know who's who in each group. sometimes the MC need to memorize their face and their name 1 day before the filming so they don't get mixed. once in a show, the panelists knew who exo is but they failed to recognize which one is chen, which one is xiumin, which one is lay, etc.

true. let's say BTS are famous right now but i doubt if you ask actors, some might say they've heard of them but don't know who are the mebers.. Or EXO, they know them but once you ask who are they, they might only know 2 or 3 member at most.. And for SNSD, they're very famous yet i'm sure they won't be able to name them all, but SNSD being known, they can name about 6-7 member at most.. Korea has this level of popularity, Actors>Comedian>Idols..

star123987 alicehalf Wednesday, December 14, 2016

it's just a joke. lol. it's like when someone says "oh my god you look so pretty in that dress!" and you're like "what are you talking about, i was already pretty" and then u guys both laugh about it bc..... it's a freakin joke. pls stop with your passive aggressiveness. also hyeri is actually very famous in korea so she didn't say anything wrong

alicehalf star123987 Wednesday, December 14, 2016

what? it seems you don't know that she's already famous too

fantasticlau alicehalf Wednesday, December 14, 2016

But where is the lie? She really is famous

CDOCOOLS Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Sad truth, No one really cares for idols beside kpop fans... It's embarrassing seeing some actors interviews were they are ask about (trendy) idols and you can tell they have to think really hard to remember a name, or just choose the name of group that is popular at the time but do they know their music? Nope.

Soulbrother CDOCOOLS Wednesday, December 14, 2016

That's not actually true, while actors/actresses are deemed more "famous", idols are household names also.

CDOCOOLS Soulbrother Wednesday, December 14, 2016

how many? most of the idols that become a household name are because of their acting and variety not because of singing

Soulbrother CDOCOOLS Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Do you even live there?

Soulbrother CDOCOOLS Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Why do you think so many idols on variety shows? They use them for ratings, actually they help each other but they're definitely known

kava CDOCOOLS Wednesday, December 14, 2016

pick any person in south korea and ask them if they know who Gdragon is. Wouldnt suprise me if more people in south korean Know Gdragon than the president of south korea lol

CDOCOOLS kava Thursday, December 15, 2016

You are talking about 1 in a thousand of idols that are supposedly household names.. GD also worked his ass off in variety /n shows like everyone in Big Bang to have a big fanbase. SuzyYoona became househeld name after their movie and drama respectively

CDOCOOLS Soulbrother Thursday, December 15, 2016

Not all of them are used for ratings Cao Lu wasn't.. Some of this idols are actually dead weight in shows.

CDOCOOLS Soulbrother Thursday, December 15, 2016

I don't live there, I have friends and partner that live there and are stationed there because of the military (Marines).

CDOCOOLS Soulbrother Thursday, December 15, 2016

Did you get offended with my comment? I am just saying what I noticed.. there are very few idols that became household names through their singing and just being an idol. Kpop fans don't seem to notice the other million of people out there in Korea (or in the world).. If you stay in your niche than you won't notice and this applies the same to kdrama fans.. some kdrama fans can't name you idols and some kpop fans can't name actors or actresses. Hyeri costar didn't know her as an idol what more evidence do you need and Hyeri has been around for years. Hyeri became a household name through 1988 and got at least 25 cfs if i remember correctly.

CDOCOOLS Thursday, December 15, 2016

Look at some interviews of actors around and you will see why I commented in my first comment.

2fat Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Old people being out of touch is not news.

kava 2fat Wednesday, December 14, 2016

im 55 and probably know more about kpop and kdrama's than you do and i dont live in Korea lol

2fat kava Wednesday, December 14, 2016

I highly doubt that. But yes, old people get stuck in their rut. A lot of them like to live in the past. Listen to the same music they listened to in their youth. Sure not all older people but a lot of them are out of touch.

kava 2fat Thursday, December 15, 2016

damned! you got me! i'm not your average old person and everyone expects you to listen to classic rock when you're over 40 lol

2fat kava Thursday, December 15, 2016

No shit. What's funny is that now my son is listening to classic rock and motown all the time. He's always been a huge R & B fan anyway, but he listened to rap for a couple of decades. He's all but stopped listening to rap now. He's 25. I'm an entertainment junkie, music, cinema, television, and I sometimes read. I'm a bit of an information junkie too. So I'm not your average old person either.

Is the girl in a group or something?

girl_group_lover Anythingyg Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Hyeri is part of Girl's Day, most known for their song "Something"

Anythingyg girl_group_lover Wednesday, December 14, 2016

I'm not a gg stan so I was wondering

Soulbrother girl_group_lover Wednesday, December 14, 2016

most known for their song expectation... It's what got their more widespread attention. I know them for "nothing lasts forever" which I still think suits them better
