The recent deployment of THAAD has not only put a strain on China-Korea relations but also placed downward pressure on the stock prices of the 'Big Three' entertainment labels.

Recently, many Hallyu stars' Chinese promotions were either delayed or canceled, including Kim Woo Bin and Suzy's Beijing fan meet and Lee Jun Ki's movie premiere event. Though the exact reasons for these delays weren't specified, people speculate that the recent news of THAAD is what led to the delays and cancellations of Hallyu stars' activities.

The Wall Street Journal, borrowing the words of multiple sources, proposed that the blocking of Hallyu activity is China's retaliation against the decision to deploy THAAD.

The negative impact of THAAD on Hallyu inevitably carried over to the entertainment labels in Korea, particularly the 'Big Three' which consists of YG, JYP, and SMIn the past week, YG's stock dropped 11.3% while SM and JYP's stocks have dropped over 6% respectively.

I didn't know YG would be affected so much by this. I always have the impression that SM and JYP have more activities in China... Seems i was wrong :s

China needs to relax a bit. SKOREA/USA dont know when north korea will randomly start firing missles.

Except digital sales , yg artist are rarely shown in tv show/ mc/ drama in sk, they seems like living in their own dungeon. In china they currently have some tv show going for ikon and psy, also bb is doing their concert right now. SM may have many artist in china , but they dont keep their artist in dungeon like yg does.

eventually China will accept that THAAD isn't going anywhere and things will go back to normal... assuming that THAAD actually has anything to do with all this..... but if it does.... then some folks in China sure are petty (not to mention idiotic)....

With THAAD, Most of the China is being spy 24/7. The missile is pulling away from Seoul and borders. The missile have to intercept in SK airspace. This is stupid.

Nope. P8 can only reach coast. Satellites can only pass for a short period of time. CPC already know how to distract the satellite.

I thought SM and JYP would drop more than YG considering they have artists with a lot of promotions there

i guess it's because SM and JYP have a lot of overseas activities in general, so it's easier for those companies to simply shift focus to another country.

Because sm mostly focus on japan for album sales and concert, and they dont have any group activity in china currently, but yg have ikon and bb that have group activity in china, also alibaba bought sm stock so even goverment block them they can sell content on internet.

Got7 ans 2PM promoted more in Japan rather than in China (Even if Got7 had a concert in China, they released a Japanese album). And pretty sure Twice rejected promoting in China, and in the future try to promote in Japan

I thought Twice were banned from Chinese shows a while back because of the flag controversy

Interestingly, both SM and JYP had Chinese artists who had voiced their support for China's policies, which is probably why their promotions aren't as affected.
