Girls' Generation's YoonA is caught up in a political conflict between Vietnam and China that she has no control over.

Media outlets reported of an incident which occurred along a disputed area situated in the South China Sea. The incident involved two Vietnamese boats which were allegedly chased and sunk by Chinese coastguard ships this past Saturday afternoon. The Chinese coastguards reportedly boarded one of the Vietnamese boats, struck five Vietnamese sailors, and then sunk the vessel. The sailors, who were forcibly thrown overboard when the vessel submerged, remained stranded at sea until the second Vietnamese boat was able to approach them and rescue them out of the water.

It seems that some Vietnamese people, enraged at this political dispute, took their anger out on YoonA, who has been promoting actively in China.

While some people used YoonA's Instagram to express their opinions on the ongoing dispute between Vietnam and China, most fans from both countries seem to be supportive, telling her not to mind the whole business and to take care of herself.

We can only hope that YoonA or her promotions weren't affected by this conflict!

wtf. first of all, she's Korean. I don't get all these people who are trying to pull her into this whole conflict where she has nothing to do with and is not responsible for. Leave her her out of this mess

I'm Viet, but the whole situation is just overdramatized. It's not like Yoona hopped on the boat and punched the giggity out of those sailors--it was just some random Chinese people. I'm not too excited about the past (and current) conflicts between China and Vietnam, but I don't go around taking it out on their country itself without context. Lol wth. If they wanted to confront China, send a letter to the government officials.

what the fuck... it's not like she can do anything about it.

iasianculture Wednesday, July 13, 2016

I'm Vietnamese and uh... this is pretty outrageous. She has nothing to do with this.

cococcchanel Wednesday, July 13, 2016

What the hell does Yoona have anything to do with it? Don't misplace your anger on an innocent soul! 😤

This is the wrong place to have that fight. What's funny is they are fighting in English.

People should just leave entertainment and politic as two separate matters. She never involves herself with any kind of politic to begin with, so why throwing hate at her simply because she is just doing what she loves there without causing any harm to anyone.

ana_martins Wednesday, July 13, 2016

okay but why are they discuss this in an non-vietnamese and non chinese celebrity's post. it's not matter to her. Yoona is korean, not an idol from any those countries and i dont think she post about it or did she? are people insane
