The 'Ice Bucket Challenge' is really becoming a huge trend worldwide as people spread awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease) by doing the 'Ice Bucket Challenge'!  Again, people will be challenged by friends, family, or others to either dump buckets of ice cold water onto their heads or donate to charity (although some do both).  In turn, this will help bring awareness to the problem and rake in more donations from those who learn about it through this publicity.

This time, BESTie's Dahye, Haeryung, and Hyeyeon stepped up to the plate, cutely challenging Yoo Jae Suk, Choo Sung Hoon, and Duble Sidekick before getting drenched in ice cold water.  Now those three named will have to take on the challenge, as well, within 24 hours or pay 100,000 KRW (~ $100 USD) to the ALS association, or so the girls say.  They also put a website link where people could learn more about the disease.

Eric Nam challenged f(x)'s Amber, BTOB's Peniel, U-KISS's Kevin, Royal Pirates' James, Jenn Im, Ailee...and all of his fans watching the video!  It appears he did the challenge but his phone battery died so he had to record it again. He poured water on himself, taking it like a champ, and asked everybody to kindly donate to the association, as well.

Do you accept his challenge?

because mostly everyone doesn't know yet about Lou Gehrig's disease or probably has only little bit knowledge about the disease, then this following video below, maybe it would help to inspire them and more people to donate and increase self awareness about  the disease.

in 2010. Girls' Generation Soo Young shared a story of former korean basket ball couch that was suffering Lou Gehrig's disease and campaigned and asked some support and attention, to help those who suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease. ^ ^

It's so sad that mostly people/fans' comments, see "Ice bucket challenge" as just "a celebration" but "slightly" forget the real meaning of that campaign.

Seeing Eric Nam tagged Jenn... reminds me I knew Eric Nam and Royal Pirates's James through Jenn Im. It's weird.

these people who complaining about the challenge isn't challenging enough. first of all its just a simple task to raise awareness. The importance is not the challenge it self but the response from the message. they are getting awareness and donations world wide from these challenges  that is the purpose of the "ice bucket challenge", not for it to be hard. Second this challenge started last year where there were a few clebs that did the challenge during winter and it has only just reached south korea (idols), the timing just happen to be summer now. stop complaining that it isn't challenging because that is not the intent.

I hope all these celebs (all over the world) who are actually participating in this Ice Bucket Challenge actually donate to their local ALS organizations and aren't just dumping water over themselves to be apart of this trend.

the fact that ppl know they are dumping ice water, is in itself spreading the awareness of ALS. There are many ppl who have never even heard of ALS, but if they heard of some celeb doing the ice bucket thing, they will likely ask why do they do that for? and then its a chance to learn about ALS and what its about.

@Winston That may all be well and true, but the celebs doing this challenge don't promote the awareness of ALS or where people can donate. I haven't seen any information posted by these celebs who are just dumping the water and nominating a few others. Some celebs have tweaked the challenge by saying they will dump the water and donate money to the charity, but the original challenge was to either dump the water or else donate money $10 instead. This a great cause and the viral marketing and social media have brought attention to ALS. Still a lot of young people are watching these videos and will probably do the challenge just to post a video on Instagram, Facebook, Vine, etc. but not actually donate to the cause. I don't know how much the ALS organizations will actually gain from this trend, but in my opinion a majority of people will do it and not donate (just reality of the situation) and the celebs who do participate could always donate more than just a couple hundred bucks, if not to ALS then to many of the other worthy charities.

@day_dreamer054 (Quote) "I don't know how much the ALS organizations will actually gain from this trend" Well the answer is below from ALS website. Generosity Continues with Ice Bucket Donations Reaching $41.8 Million (August 21, 2014) — As of Thursday, August 21, The ALS Association has received $41.8 million in donations compared to $2.1 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 21). These donations have come from existing donors and 739,275 new donors to The Association.

@Winston Thanks for responding with some stats. It's great that awareness for ALS has increased and that $42 million (and counting) has been raised from the Ice Bucket Challenge, compared to the $2 million raised last year, but I still feel like this is a fad and after a few weeks we won't see anymore of these videos posted on our social media. Something new always comes along and once it goes viral social media will be all over the new fad. Even so any organization would be appreciative of the donations they could receive. But realistically this money raised/donated isn't going to cure ALS and is a small amount needed to fund medical research that could cost billions of dollars. I'd like to see the stats next year in order to compare if the new donors gained continue to donate to ALS organizations. I think it's great that people are willing to give, but I hope they understand that one time donations aren't miracles to finding a cure and that it takes years and continual funding for cures to be discovered.

There's nothing challenging about dousing yourself with ice water in the summer. Let's have this challenge in december and see who does it.

But it's for a good cause.. Should it really matter about what time of the year their doing this? I don't think so..

Ice water and Winter? I am suddenly thinking about Henry here. Ha ha. Maybe Henry should give it a go, to remember that ice pond/lake experience in real men. and its for the good of charity too.

@kamilia-fever and that's great. I'm glad raising money for ALS is getting the attention it deserves but just don't say this is a challenge.
