Enlisted celebrities under controversy for being allowed to appear in a concert in China

Song Joong Ki

Controversy is arising after word got out that celebrities currently enlisted in the army are being sent to an overseas concert in China.

On March 17, the National Forces' Culture and Arts Performance Group will be having a concert at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. While Private First Class Song Joong Ki was put in charge as the MC, Corporal Lee Suk Hoon and Sergeant Kim Ho Kyung will be performing.

However, as this news came out, people pointed out whether the authorities of the now abolished system of celebrity soldiers, which was abolished back in August due to the problem of slack army discipline, may be utilizing the National Forces' Culture and Arts Performance Corps as an expedient.

It seems a controversy is to be expected from the participation of celebrities Song Joong Ki, Lee Suk Hoon, and Kim Ho Kyung in the performance group. However, the authorities are claiming this is not a problem as they deem this a practical use of the skills of ordinary soldiers rather than those who had temporarily been celebrity soldiers.
